BIM and computer resources
The integration of computer tools in our work, early in 1989,
has provided us with a very complete and accessible database of
Standards, Procedures and information resources. It gathers
efficiently all the past expirience and keeps it in constant
update, refinement and validity.
Since 2006 we have
transformed all our CADD (Computer Aided Design and Drafting)
tools, from a conventional bi-dimensional drafting system, to
the implementation of a BIM (Building Information Model) method.
It is latest generation technology in the design field. We use
Revit® from Autodesk®.
BIM technology virtually constructs a
three dimensional model of the building, powerfully rising the
thoroughness level of study of any design problem. The most
important coordination and information coherence problems,
typical of the traditional metods, are naturally overtaken.
BIM
concept is analog to the geographical information models, but
applied to buildings. each model elemnt and component has
parametric properties that allows material takeoff from the very
begining of the project, to provide cost control for timely take
of decissions. The model is available also for construction
control, and eventually, the operation administration and
house-keeping of the final building in use.
MONTEALEGRE BEACH ARQUITECTOS is
one of the oldest offices in Chile that makes exclusive use of
BIM, deploying Autodesk Revit®, developing all the graphic
deliverables and project documents natively in Revit, and not as
a later translation. This effectively gurranties a successful
use of the tool, giving to our clients the benefit of its full
performance.
The office's experience in BIM extends over a big number of projects of all classes,
among them three football stadiums, buildings for the Industry and Mining, housing and office
buildings and urban and landscaping deign. It represents 10 years and alleast 50.000 manhours in BIM,
counting only the permanent staff of the office. BIM implementation implies a special strategy for
each project and contract mode, whose definition and performance is based on a long and real experience.
IFC - Conectivity and compatibility
The integration of Revit
Architecture® with analog tools of other engineering disciplines
(Revit Structure® and
Revit MEP®) makes an important resource for
interdisciplinary coordination, notoriously improving the
quality of the work in comparison to any other traditional
method. BIM coordination is today's standard of the industry
becoming a regular requirement in government public tenders.
However, the compatibility and integration of disciplines is not limited only to Revit platform.
Through the exchange of BIM files in IFC ("Industry Foundation Classes") interoperability
between different platforms is granted as well as the capacity of viewing, coordinate and further complete the work
initiated in another software. The transfer of IFC files is today in continuous improvement by the industry.
Among the data format we can provide are: DWG, DWF, PDF, RVT, DXF, DGN.
MONTEALEGRE BEACH ARQUITECTOS make available to its and collaborators an FTP
share point, ad-hoc for each project, security protected for continuous exchange of information, document issues
and project progress control.

Blog about Revit
in spanish
We dedicate this site to architects and engineers of spanish language that uses REVIT from Autodesk, Inc.
in the production of their professional drawings. We publish here critical subjects or "Affairs" whose
solution we have successfully found, or in a workaround way that has lead us to good results. We think,
they will help many other users. Sometimes, these Affairs come without a solution and remain open for the exchange of experiences.
The implementation of this site content will remain the risponsability of each user.
This blog is complemented with an open forum in LinkedIn, the
Users Group Revit-MBA,
that actually has 2.150 registered users in permanent activity. The condition in this case is,
of course, to have a LinkedIn registration, but you can easily create one using you Facebook account.
